Join us for a public screening of Percy Shelley’s The Cenci! In collaboration with the Keats-Shelley Association of America, we are bringing to the UAB the Romantic Revivals Project, an initiative to bring back to the stage theatre plays of the Romantic period.

In 2024, more than one hundred institutions and communities across six continents came together to watch a New York City performance of Byron’s Sardanapalus, whether in person, through livestreams, or at locally organized public screenings (like the one held at UAB), transforming a single theatrical production into a worldwide conversation. This year, the Romantic Revivals Project (Omar Miranda, Keats-Shelley Association of America) launches formally with a worldwide streaming of Shelley’s The Cenci in partnership with Red Bull Theater and director Eleanor Holdridge.

At UAB, we will host a viewing in la Sala de Graus, with an introduction by Shelley scholar and doctoral student Rory Edgington, followed by a Q&A. People interested in reading the unabridged play are welcome to contact Francesca, who will send them a copy. All are welcome* to come and chat about literature, and enjoy the performance of stories that raise questions still relevant today.
